KUALA LUMPUR: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad has hinted at a positive development regarding the long-awaited increase in on-call allowances for government medical officers.
Speaking at a press conference, Dzulkefly revealed discussions with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who assured him that a definitive decision would be made at Friday’s Cabinet meeting.
“The prime minister reaffirmed his commitment, as outlined in the Budget 2025 speech, to resolve this matter,” said Dzulkefly, urging patience until the official announcement.
The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) previously criticized delays in implementing the promised increment, which had been announced twice last year. Medical professionals, including house officers and specialists, are hopeful that Friday’s decision will bring long-awaited relief.
“Let us pray for good news, Insya-Allah,” Dzulkefly added
