IPOH: The ambitious RM6.26bil Ipoh Sentral project promises to redefine the city’s urban landscape with a state-of-the-art transportation hub complemented by mixed-use developments. Set to be completed in two phases over 20 years, the project spans 27.1ha behind the iconic Ipoh Railway Station.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that phase one, beginning in six months on a 2.55ha plot, will focus on landscaping, pedestrian walkways, and cycling routes while preserving cultural and heritage elements, including places of worship. A new mosque will also be constructed to symbolize community harmony.

Phase two, covering 24.7ha, includes serviced apartments, commercial spaces, hotels, and community facilities, integrating rail and bus services into a seamless transportation hub.

“The heritage Ipoh Railway Station will remain untouched, preserving its historical value,” Loke assured.

Perak Mentri Besar Saarani Mohamad lauded the federal-state collaboration, emphasizing its potential to create a sustainable, efficient, and people-friendly urban environment.
