DAVOS: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hailed the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) as a groundbreaking initiative, underscoring its potential to boost economic cooperation between Malaysia and Singapore.
Speaking at the “Country Strategy Dialogue” during the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025, Anwar emphasized the mutual trust underpinning this unique collaboration. “This economic zone is a phenomenal move, based on trust and shared policies, with no comparable regional model,” he said.
Formalized during the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat, the JS-SEZ spans strategic areas in Johor, targeting 100 projects over a decade. Anwar expressed confidence in its potential to attract investments and enhance regional growth, highlighting discussions with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
“This project will showcase the strength of Malaysia-Singapore collaboration, benefiting ASEAN and beyond,” he added.
