Kota Bharu, January 29, 2025 – The Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department has announced that 460 premises across the state have successfully received the Malaysian Halal Certification, with 50 of these establishments owned by non-Muslim operators.

This initiative reflects the inclusive nature of the halal certification process, enabling both Muslim and non-Muslim businesses to cater to the growing demand for halal products and services. The department urged businesses without halal certification or those with expired certificates to take immediate steps to apply or renew their status.

A temporary license valid for one year can be issued to establishments requiring renovations to meet the standards of halal compliance. Business owners are required to follow strict guidelines and implement necessary modifications to qualify for the certification.

Premises failing to adhere to the standards after warnings may face suspension of their halal certification. Such actions are taken in accordance with the Malaysia Halal Certification Manual 2020.

The growing number of businesses seeking halal certification underscores the increasing awareness of its importance, both in meeting consumer expectations and ensuring compliance with Islamic dietary laws. This inclusivity opens up opportunities for non-Muslim-owned businesses to access the halal market while maintaining the integrity of halal principles.

The department continues to encourage business owners to take advantage of the streamlined application process and adhere to the prescribed guidelines to secure and maintain their certification.
