London, January 17, 2025 – Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held discussions with several prominent companies in the United Kingdom during his working visit, focusing on enhancing bilateral economic ties and attracting investments into Malaysia.
In a significant meeting with Standard Chartered Bank CEO Bill Winters, PM Anwar discussed collaborations aimed at facilitating global businesses’ entry into the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The SEZ is a key initiative to strengthen Malaysia’s role as a regional economic hub.
Additionally, the Prime Minister engaged with officials from Jaguar Land Rover, Raw Energy, and Yondr. Notably, Yondr is actively involved in a data center project at Sedenak Tech Park in Johor, a development that highlights Malaysia’s growing prominence in the technology and innovation sectors.
These meetings align with Malaysia’s broader objectives of bolstering international trade and investment, particularly in light of the United Kingdom’s recent accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The partnership opens up new opportunities for economic cooperation between Malaysia and UK-based businesses.
Prime Minister Anwar’s visit underscores his government’s commitment to fostering strategic global partnerships, driving economic growth, and positioning Malaysia as a competitive player in the international market
