KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian mixed doubles pair, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, advanced to the quarter-finals of the India Open after a thrilling victory over Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi.
Despite losing the first game 19-21, the Malaysian duo made a remarkable comeback, securing the next two games 21-12 and 22-20 to eliminate the reigning Malaysia Open champions.
As of January 14, 2025, the Thai pair, Dechapol and Supissara, are ranked 7th in the world. They recently achieved significant success by winning the 2025 Petronas Malaysia Open, a BWF World Tour Super 1000 event, defeating the world No. 1 pair in the final. This victory is expected to improve their ranking in the upcoming updates.
The world No. 3 Malaysian pair will now face either Thailand’s Ruttanapak Oupthong and Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat or China’s Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi in the next round.
