KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 – King Sultan Ibrahim has urged MPs to prioritize national unity and economic growth instead of political squabbles.
Speaking at the opening of Parliament’s Fourth Session, His Majesty reminded lawmakers that Parliament is a place for meaningful debates, not insults and division.
The King praised Malaysia’s economic growth, citing a 5.9% GDP increase, record trade figures, and a stronger ringgit.
He also urged the government to ensure that targeted subsidies reach deserving groups, strengthen the digital economy, and boost the agriculture and food supply chain sectors.
His Majesty emphasized the importance of affordable housing, education, and Visit Malaysia 2026, urging the public to keep Malaysia clean and safe for tourists.
