KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured that foreign workers’ mandatory EPF contribution will remain at 2%, despite earlier proposals to set it at 12%.

Anwar clarified that there was confusion about whether contributions would be cumulative but affirmed the rate will stay at 2% for now, considering industry concerns.

The policy, introduced in Budget 2025, aligns with international labour standards and aims to ensure wage fairness between local and foreign workers.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan stressed that the measure will help close the wage gap while maintaining Malaysia’s economic competitiveness.
