PETALING JAYA, Feb 5 – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has defended the decision to regulate rather than ban vaping, saying it is a practical approach to controlling its use.

Dzulkefly explained that regulation ensures safety standards for vape devices and liquids while preventing sales to minors. He highlighted that banning vape has not worked in countries like Thailand and Singapore, where usage continues to rise.

The Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 seeks to regulate e-liquid nicotine levels and phase out disposable vapes. The government aims to reduce nicotine addiction while imposing taxes to fund anti-smoking initiatives.
