PUTRAJAYA, Feb 5 – Malaysia and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to fighting corruption while strengthening collaboration in education, tourism, and health.
In a joint statement, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev agreed to enhance anti-corruption education for civil servants and promote exchange programs between universities and research institutes.
The two nations will also explore Islamic and halal tourism opportunities, including the “Umrah+” initiative to position Malaysia and Uzbekistan as pre- and post-pilgrimage destinations. The visit marks Mirziyoyev’s first official trip to Malaysia since assuming office in 2016.
