KUANTAN, Feb 4 – The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project has achieved 78.5% completion, with the first phase from Kota Bharu to Gombak set to begin operations in January 2027.
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan stated that the project will boost economic growth in the East Coast and enhance transportation connectivity.
The second phase connecting Gombak to Port Klang will be completed by December 2027. The ECRL’s RM4.5 billion SDG Sukuk issuance, aimed at sustainable development, attracted significant investor interest.
The railway will shorten travel times, improve logistics, and stimulate regional investments.
