PUTRAJAYA: Director-General of Public Service (KPPA) Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz has called on civil servants to play an active role in ensuring Malaysia’s Asean 2025 Chairmanship delivers significant benefits, particularly in investment and trade.
“Malaysia has a major responsibility as Asean Chair, representing our leadership and ability to foster regional growth, peace, and prosperity,” he stated during an interview.
Wan Ahmad Dahlan emphasized that civil servants must ensure programmes and initiatives benefit all levels of society and improve quality of life for Asean residents. He warned that Malaysia’s global reputation hinges on the effectiveness of its leadership during this tenure.
The Public Service Department (JPA) will spearhead initiatives under the Asean Cooperation on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM), including human capital development and modernizing the public sector. Key events include the Asean Conference on Future-Ready Public Service in October, culminating in the signing of the Asean Declaration on Future-Ready Public Service.
To strengthen engagement, civil servants will receive enhanced English language training from Intan, Malaysia’s premier civil service training institute. Wan Ahmad Dahlan also highlighted Intan’s efforts to rival Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy by offering international-level training to government-linked entities and top civil service leaders.
“Our resolve is to assist Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and showcase Malaysia’s leadership globally,” he added.
